#TheFloating Piers one year on!

Some memories don't fear the passage of time. Whether a year or ten have passed, they remain imprinted in our memory as though they happened only yesterday. They are the most beautiful memories, the ones that gave us emotions that we want to relive again and again.

Perhaps not for everyone, but certainly for many of us locals and lovers of Lake Iseo, The Floating Piers is one such memory.

On June 18, 2016, our wonderful lake entered into the history of contemporary art and gained a prominent role in the international tourist landscape.

One year. It's been a year since the Bulgarian artist Christo covered the floating docks with yellow dahil fabric to connect Montisola to the mainland and welcome the first people who had been waiting for months to walk on the lake's waters. From June 18, almost a million and a half people experienced the masterpiece in 16 short days. An extraordinary undertaking for the whole of the Sebino area. One that deserves to be celebrated and remembered with a series of initiatives to keep alive the memories of an event that gave Lake Iseo world renown and great tourist promotion.

Here, the municipal administrations directly involved in the work, Sulzano and Montisola, have planned a rich calendar of events that will, for three consecutive weekends from June 18, reignite the atmosphere of celebration and discovery that The Floating Piers inspired in a year ago.

Events ranging from sport to art, street food to music, from shows to light projections.

The official opening day of the event will be Sunday the 18th June and will include a sailing regatta in the bay between the municipalities of Sulzano and Montisola, at 3pm. At 5pm there will be the inauguration of the photographic exhibition of the best shots of the work followed by contest prizes promoted by @visitlakeiseo during The Floating Piers. There will be an aperitif at Sulzano at 6pm where several street food trucks will provide great appetizers before departing for the flavors of a dinner on the lakeshore of Montisola, accompanied by the great music of the young Bergamascan pianist Davide Locatelli.

And at 22.00 the dance show will kick off a lakeside light show, invoking the spirit of Christo's Floating Piers.

An unmissable day to re-experience the enthusiasm one year on - don't miss it!
